BQ2000TPWR Switch Mode Fast Charge Management IC

BQ2000TPWR is a programmable fast-charge management IC for NiCd, NiMH, and Li-Ion battery packs in an 8-pin TSSOP package. The controller selects charging behavior for nickel or lithium chemistry and uses a switch-mode charging topology. It performs pre-charge qualification using battery voltage and temperature before fast charging starts. Nickel batteries can use rate-of-temperature-rise termination, while Li-Ion charging uses minimum-current termination. Maximum temperature and maximum charge time provide additional termination limits. The device also supports programmable trickle charging, optional top-off charging for NiMH batteries, battery insertion and removal detection, and a low-power sleep mode.
