BQ2004HSNTR Switch Mode Battery Charge Controller

BQ2004HSNTR is a fast-charge controller for NiCd and NiMH battery systems in a 16-pin SOIC package. It provides hysteretic PWM switch-mode current regulation and can also gate an external regulated charging current. Before fast charge begins, the controller checks battery voltage and temperature against configured limits. During charging, it monitors temperature, voltage, and time. Termination methods include rate of temperature rise, peak voltage detection, negative delta voltage, maximum voltage, maximum temperature, and maximum time. Optional top-off charging and pulsed maintenance charging are also supported. Direct status outputs can indicate battery and charge conditions, and the device can operate in stand-alone or system-integrated charger designs with configurable charge control.
